Treatment for Complex Trauma

Descriptions of many of the clinical treatments, mental health interventions, and other trauma-informed service approaches developed by members of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN) are available under NCTSN Empirically Supported Treatments and Promising Practices.
The following interventions have been developed specifically for Complex Trauma:

For infants, toddlers, and young children and their parents or caregivers:

These therapies were developed specifically for Complex Trauma; however, most are also appropriate for youth with PTSD. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), one of the most widely used trauma treatments, is recommended for youth who experience numerous problems related to PTSD. It has been modified and significantly lengthened for use with youth who have also experienced Complex Trauma.
