The "When Not to Keep a Secret" project was created to address youth violence and increase public education regarding mental health issues and resources. The essay contest provides an opportunity for educators to work hand-in-hand with students to promote appropriate disclosure skills and moral and civic obligations, and to empower youth to support their peers.
