Risking Connection is a curriculum-based foundational trauma training program for professionals working with survivors of trauma. RC provides a philosophy and framework for understanding extreme symptoms and behaviors, managing crises, addressing vicarious trauma, and achieving lasting healing.

Through use of RC training, organizations can create more trauma-informed treatment cultures. The RC Training Program uses a Train-the-Trainer model of dissemination whereby organizations can gain the capacity to do ongoing RC training in their organization.

This symposium will focus on practical strategies that build upon the innovations and strengths of rural communities and address the behavioral health needs of their children and families. The purpose is to disseminate information on how to create and sustain services and supports for children and their families in rural America. Partnerships at the Federal, state and community levels are key to sustainability, particularly during these challenging economic times. Innovative partnerships can help reduce the impact of behavioral health problems and promote a good quality of life for the entire community, including those with behavioral health challenges.

The Rural Behavioral Health Symposium will focus on how to create and sustain services and supports during these challenging economic times so that communities are able to reduce the impact of behavioral health problems and promote a good quality of life for the entire community, including those with behavioral health challenges. The sessions will assess the outcomes of these practices for children, adolescents, young adults, their families and the communities in which they live. Sessions will also address lessons learned and provide useful take-home strategies and tools for ?at home" implementation.

This 2 day workshop will focus on the clinical skills necessary to conduct a comprehensive assessment and provide treatment of sexual behaviour problems in children. The presenters will provide an overview of the research, discuss current best practices, and use case examples to illustrate strategies to assess and treat children with sexual behaviour problems. Understanding research is key to providing evidence-based practice in the assessment and treatment of children (<12 years of age) presenting with sexual behaviour problems.

This two day training will (a) Lay the foundation to provide an overview of the research and empirically based, Best Practice Guidelines for assessment and treatment; (b) Outline empirical evidence regarding what to assess and who might be at risk to continue once identified; (c) Identify the roles of multi-systems in assessment and treatment i.e., who needs to be involved and how (i.e., caregivers, systems, schools, other professionals); (d) Treatment options, strategies and tools.

Child Forensic Interviewer Training is intended for a wide range of professionals who interview children about suspected child abuse.

Child Forensic Interviewer Training consists of 35 hours of classroom work over 5 days. The training includes lectures and practice interviews with non-abused children and role-play interviews with adults portraying allegedly abused children. These interviews are videotaped and reviewed by faculty and peers, and include mock trial practice. Small group discussionsprovide ample opportunity for interaction among trainees and nationally recognized peers and researchers. This training highlights cutting-edge, practical information and promotes interdisciplinary collaboration. Multidisciplinary teams are welcome.

Event Description
Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) is a short-term, specialized behavior management program designed for young children experiencing behavioral and/or emotional difficulties and their families. It is an evidence-based treatment supported by over 30 years of research and practice by PCIT providers throughout the United States andinternationally (www.pcit.org). PCIT is an assessment driven, criteriabased therapy which focuses on improving positive child behaviors through a strong parent-child relationship. Research has found thatsuccessful completion of PCIT decreases parenting stress and reduces child behavior problems in the home, school, and public settings.

In addition to training and providing follow-up consultation toclinicians, the TTTC works with agency supervisors to implement the model, maintain fidelity to the model, and build training capacity within the agency. The TTTC collaborates with agency administrators around issues of fiscal management and sustainability, as well as with third party payers to authorize modelsas billable therapies to ensure agency reimbursement.

This conference is designed to raise awareness of developmental trauma disorder. The featured presenter is Bessel A. van der Kolk, MD, Professor of Psychiatry, Boston University Medical School and Medical Director, Trauma Center at Justice Resource Institute.

Most children who experience multiple traumatic events do not meet criteria for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and are often diagnosed with a host of other disorders. In light of the fact that there is no good diagnosis for these children, The National Child Traumatic Stress Network's DSM-V Task Force has proposed a new diagnosis for the upcoming DSM-V called Developmental Trauma Disorder (DTD). This conference will review theoretical rationale for DTD as a vital diagnosis for traumatized children.

Presented by Dr. Janina Fisher, this workshop will offer a conceptual model for treating the effects of trauma and dissociation and present techniques to engage clients who are resistant, overwhelmed, impulsive, preoccupied with internal stimuli and unable to effectively process verbal input. These verbal and somatic approaches emphasize present moment experience and help clients to better integrate the therapeutic work by fostering internal coherence and mindfulness and strengthening capacities to deal with the challenges of daily life. Because they are inherently stabilizing they are appropriate for clients presenting with any trauma-related diagnosis, including Borderline Personality Disorder and bipolar disorder as well as Dissociative Identity Disorder and other Dissociative Disorders.
